IF visits MEYER Australia!
The Innovation Factory visited Meyer Australia in August 2017 for innovation opportunity scouting and ethnographic design research. Our goal was to develop a better understanding of the Australian consumer and market landscape for global product innovation insights.
We visited a number of Australian families(If our host found this blog post, hello there!) and observed cooking habits, asking several rounds of interview questions and taking inventories of their cookware and kitchens. Below we will put some of our snap and little detail of what and why we were in Australia and a little sum up of the trip!
These visits gave us a great sense of user needs in the Australian market, and a lot of inspiration on possible innovations that would help the Australian consumer.
We were able to get insights about what our customers like to cook, what types of cookware our users prefer for which recipes, everyday problems they experience in the kitchen, material preferences they have, innovation gaps in the market, and more.
The families were lovely hosts and we had a wonderful time getting to know them, tasting their cooking, and getting a glimpse of Australian daily life.
We also did several store visits to get a better understanding of the Australian market landscape, and to see what our competitors are up to.
Our next steps are to share and synthesize the insights from our global research amongst the IF team, and brainstorm possible design innovations that would benefit our global consumers. To us, this means meaningful innovations for Australia that will be shareable across other markets as well.
We had such a good time in our short trip in Melbourne with all new friends we met and all the great food we ate!
Before we went to Melbourne, Australia we did check the forecast and we were expected to get rain everyday but everyone said we got so lucky! We did get some rain but most of the days that we were there are beautiful~
Can't wait to be back Melbourne! please stay tune which will be our next destinations!
